VALENTINE’S DAY Dinner for Two!

We will be open on Saturday February 13th for lunch and dinner. On Valentine’s Day Sunday, February 14th, we will be open from 4 until 10. Come in for lunch or dinner before or after the Madera Vintners’ Association Wine and Chocolate Weekend. On Valentine’s Day we will be offering a complimentary picture of you and your sweetheart. We will be closed on February 15th in observance of President’s Day.

Our February special is a Steak and Seafood dinner for two. You get a Crispy Fried Artichoke Appetizer to start, two green salads, two choice top sirloin steaks served with ½ Dungeness crab and shrimp scampi. For dessert, our delicious house made Tiramisu.
Price for this is $64.

The Fresno Chapter of the California Restaurant Association is awarding this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award to............. The Mariscotti Family. Every year the CRA gives this award to a family or individual for its contributions to the industry. They are honoring all of us; Bob, Claudine, Roberta as well as Helen and my grandparents Rasmeo and Pearl for the family restaurant in Berenda before The Vineyard. The event is Monday, March 1 at the Saroyan Theater in Fresno. We are very honored and excited to be 2010 recipient of the award.

Every year we take a picture of the staff before opening on New Year’s Eve. Here is this year’s picture.

As I mentioned above, we are serving our Sweetheart Dinner for Two in February. Look for new menu items in March; we are working on them now. We are really excited about a couple of them.

The 2008 vintage of Vineyard Restaurant Vineyards Parking Lot Red is being bottled on Feb 8th. We’ll let it rest a couple of weeks to get over bottle shock, then have it for sale. The red table wine blend is approximately 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Syrah and 10% Pinot Noir. The ton of Cabernet and Syrah grapes came from vines that grow around the parking lot of the restaurant. The Pinot came from John Simpson’s vineyard. John is a very accomplished grape grower who tells me what to do with the grapes we grow. I am pleased with the wine that my friends at the Mariposa Wine Company made with our grapes. It has good balance and good fruit without the chalkiness that was evident the last time I made wine with these grapes. I look forward to tasting it with you.
