What’s New at the Vineyard

Independence Day

Closed July 1, 2, 3 and 4th

We will be closed Sunday through Wednesday July 1 through the Fourth of July. Our hours are Monday thru Saturday from 11:30 to 10:00.  Yes, we are open for lunch and yes, we are open all afternoon. We start our dinner specials at 4:30.

Fig Feast

figfestMark your calendar for Saturday August 11, 2012 the Fig Fest will be held at the CSUF campus. This celebration of figs features tasting of fig food from local restaurants. There will be kids’ games, music, art, a chef contest and more. For more information and tickets, go to www.californiafigs.com.  That evening the Fig Feast will be here at the Vineyard. We will be serving hors d’oeuvres followed by a three course dinner. Of course all the food will incorporate figs. The Fig Feast started 12 years ago as collaboration between us and the California Fig Advisory Board. Over the years it has been held at various restaurants and venues throughout the area.  We are happy to be hosting it once again.  Menus and tickets are available at www.californiafigs.com.  The restaurant will be open at 11:30am to 5pm on Saturday, August 11th, and then closed to the public in order to accommodate the Fig Feast dinner that evening.

Christmas Parties

It may be hot outside, but it is time to plan your Christmas parties. Call us at 674 0923 for more information and custom party planning. We do many different styles of meals for a variety of events; bridal showers, baby showers, birthdays, anniversaries, promotions, funeral receptions, divorces or almost anything you would like to celebrate.

Recipe, Mission Figs wrapped with Bacon

In honor of Fig Fest here is one of our favorite fig recipes.

  • Black Mission Figs, bacon or pancetta (Italian bacon) and balsamic vinegar.
  • Reduce the vinegar by 50% over very low heat.
  • Pre cook  bacon for 5 minutes in oven.
  • Wrap each fig with strip of bacon and secure with toothpick. This can be done in advance.
  • Figs can be cooked on grill or in oven until bacon is done.
  • Drizzle with reduced vinegar. This is a great appetizer anytime you are grilling.

Farm Fresh Produce

Now that summer is here, we have an abundance of locally grown fresh fruit and vegetables. Our pastry and dessert chef Ian is making fresh peach and fresh melon sorbets.

HOURS

We are open Monday thru Saturday for lunch and dinner. We open at 11:30 and stay open all afternoon. We close the dining room at 10, sometimes 9:30 on Monday and Tuesday. The bar stays open as long as there are guests. We are closed on Sundays except for Mother’s Day, a few other holidays, and for private parties. We will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday May 28, 2012.
