Salmon

Salmon

We serve a lot of fresh salmon, around 10 to 20 lbs. a day. About 6 months ago we asked our fish purveyor, Sierra Seafood, to help us improve the quality of the fish we were using.  Joe found a special farmed salmon called Loch Duart. It is not wild, but has much of the flavor and texture of wild salmon. The Loch Duart fish are sustainably farmed in Scotland. The company practices aquaculture practices that duplicate the salmon’s natural life cycle. You can read more about them here www.lochduart.com
I know this salmon is more flavorful, with a consistent texture. It is another company like Mary’s Chickens, Willey Farms and Harris Ranch Beef that is producing beautiful, clean, tasty, sustainable food. We are proud to serve this quality of food.

We will be closed on Columbus Day, October 14

We will be closed on Monday 10/14/13. No, not to honor Christopher Columbus and our Italian - American heritage, but to remodel the restrooms. We are remodeling the ladies’ restroom and it will be out of service on Monday. Master tile man David Romero will begin working on the restroom when we close on Saturday 10/12. He’ll work straight through until Tuesday the 15th when we open for lunch. We’ll have a functioning restroom, and David plans on finishing the job by the end of the week. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by closing and the construction mess.

New Menu on October 15

We are introducing fall and winter favorites on our lunch and dinner menus, including our popular Pumpkin Ravioli.   We’ve also brought back the Filet Mignon, and to highlight the Madera Pomegranate Festival, we’ll be serving the winner of last year’s recipe contest, our famous Korean Style Short Ribs with pomegranate glaze:

Pomegranates

Speaking of pomegranates, tune in to Channel 26 on Wed 10/16 from 5-9am.  Clayton Clark of Channel 26 will be here at the Vineyard for this year’s pomegranate recipe contest. Chef Jason will cook and serve the top 10 dishes out of the 100+ entries in this year’s pomegranate recipe contest.  We’ll also have the popular Pomegranate launcher set up in the parking lot.  It was lots of fun last year, so be sure to watch. Along with the Pomegranate harvest comes fresh pomegranate juice. There is no better way to get your dose of antioxidants and other beneficial components in pomegranate juice than in one of Joel’s Pomegranate Martinis.

Christmas Parties

We can design a menu to fit your needs and budget.  We do parties for all occasions and reasons. One of the most fun events was the recent MUHS multi-class reunion. You missed it? Don’t worry, it was such a success that they’re talking about another one for next year. This was a social media driven event. The party started when Julie Ferrarese told a few friends on Facebook that she was coming to town and wanted to meet for some drinks; that turned into a party of over 150 people. MUHS alumni from several different classes, all the way from 1956 graduates to 2002 graduates showed up and had a great time. Here are some of the pictures.

Social Media

As shown by the response on Facebook to the informal MUHS reunion, social media has become a big part of our marketing and business.  I am surprised by the number of tourists (when the Parks are open) that find us on Yelp, Tripadvisor and Google.  We appreciate your comments on the various social media sites; there are some great comments about the Vineyard. Our Facebook page is also popular, and we often post our specials there and Savory App.  

Riley’s Brewing

Another exciting local producer is Riley’s Brewing of Madera.  Owner Dan Riley combined his love of beer with his knowledge of stainless steel tanks to make some of the best beer in the Valley.  Riley’s will be donating a portion of the sales from their Pink Lady Pale Ale to breast cancer research. We proudly serve Riley’s Pink Lady and Wildcat IPA on tap.
